37 Behold I say unto you, Nay; for it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men; wherefore, if these things have ceased wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and all is vain”
Having been on a mission for a while now, I have come to realize how powerful faith is in my daily life. In fact, faith is important in all our daily lives. It is the fuel by which we are able to turn our dreams into action, and more than that, it is the way that we show our Heavenly Father that we are ready to be led to the best life that we could ever have. Just as it says in the scripture, “it is by faith that miracles are wrought,” and this week has been a testimony to me of that.
One privilege of being on the Lord’s errand is that if we are willing to exercise our faith, He will show us marvelous things, and lead us to extraordinary miracles. This week, there were countless miracles, and I have come to realize that the miracles that we can have in our lives, whether we be missionaries, or not, can happen daily.
This week, we started out with a bang. One of the amis that we had been working with since I got in, Marie-Cécile, told us that she felt that she was finally ready to be baptized. After all the hard work that we had been putting in, the Lord had been working equally hard on Marie-cecile. She has so much faith and has such a pure desire to follow Heavenly Father. Every appointment with her has just been filled with the spirit and with testimony, and because she has been diligently reading the Book of Mormon as well, she has received so many answers to her prayers as well.
I also had the opportunity to go on 2 exchanges one of the companionships in my zone, in Reims, as well as another with an Assistant to the President, Elder Davis. During my exchange with Elder Davis in Versailles, we fixed a goal to find a family that would progress in the gospel, and we were sure blessed with the inspiration. We were knocking doors in the evening when we felt like we were not in the right place. We prayed for guidance and going along with a thought that I had, I told Elder Davis that there was a specific place that came to mind – a small intersection that was on a main road near a bakery. Elder Davis said that he had the impression that we needed to go somewhere with lots of cars. The inspiration that we received matched. We walked briskly to our destination, talking to everyone we met along the way. Eventually, we reached the small intersection where there was a bench, where we met a Young french man who was listening to music. We talked to him about the Plan of Salvation, and when we asked him what he thought about when he thought about Jesus Christ, he said “Peace and Happiness.” It was really uncommon for us both to hear that, simply because french people are usually very private about their religious lives. And as we continued to talk to him, his mother showed up! Now, when older French people come into the picture, it is usually a time of hesitation. But, just like her son, she explained that she did believe in Jesus Chris, being a Catholic at base. As we testified about eternal families, she told us that she was not doing too well, because she and her husband were now going through a time of separation. She invited us to come over to her home to share a message that weekend.
Well, this morning, Elder Davis told me that the family that we had found had met with him and his companion, and that they were really touched by the message. This family with 5 children invited Elder Davis and his companion back to share more this coming week. What a miracle!
I know that miracles exist everyday. They may not come in the form of an angel coming to us, but they are there if we are willing to believe, and if we are willing to work with our faith.
What miracles have you seen in your life as a result of your faith?
I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored on the earth today with all the priesthood keys to bless our families in the eternities, and they are found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know this because I see these blessings everyday.
Till next week!
