Apples in A Seed‏

We had a baptism this week.  That is one of the great miracles that Elder Cardon and I had this week.  Marie-cecile was baptized this past Saturday and I had the privilege of doing the baptism for her.  One of the best moments of a baptism happens during the first few seconds after the person comes out of the water.  It is in those tender seconds that these people who have just been baptized realise the cleasing power of the Atonement.  Marie-cecile said that she just felt so clean and light, and she could not stop smiling.  Although I do remember much about my very own baptism because I was 8, I still remember the clean and pure feeling that I had.  It truly was the first time I knew that my Heavenly Father loved me, because there was an inexplicable joy I felt.  Truly, one cannot truly know the extent of the blessings that come without taking a step of faith and following the Savior’s commandment to be baptized.

Marie-cecile’s baptism also brought lots of good fruit.  She invited a crowd of her family members to attend, from her nephew’s family who lived 2 hours away, to her own children.  For many who were there, it was their first time ever being in the chapel of the Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Because of many untrue reports about our church here in France of the last 2 decades, many here in France have had the misconception that we have more than one spouse, or that we live in tiny communities and do not use electricity or mobile phones.  There have been so many times on my mission where I as a missionary had to explain that these reports were not true.  The family members who attended Marie-Cecile’s baptism were very surprised and very happy that she had made the decision.  Those who had told her that she was making the wrong choice were now totally for it.  Her son, who was there during many of the lessons we had, also expressed his desire to be baptized as well!  What a miracle that came from planting a simple seed.

I learnt this week that while we might be able to count the number of seeds in an apple, we can never count the number of apples in a seed.  The seeds of our good deeds as people will always return great fruit, and while we may not be able to see the immediate results of our labors all the time, we can receive the instant gratification of happiness as we learn to serve those around us and do good things.

Thank you all for all your support and letters from time to time.  I know that all of you are truly precious in the eyes of our Heavenly Father.  Never undermine your true divine potential!
